A friend recently shared this book with me: The Last Cowgirl by Jana Richman. It's a great story about a young girl's life after her father moves their family out to a ranch in Western Utah. Very rich character development and a sweet little love story too. The author describes the desert, mountains and inner workings of family life so well - you'll feel like you're right there.
