Today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere and the official start of winter.
The earth will start tilting back over the next six months, leading to longer days and warmer temperatures, until the summer solstice on June 21st. Info found here.
Winter is not my favorite season but there are a few things I enjoy:
- Ice skating
- Cozy evenings with a book
- Cooking beef stew and chicken pot pie
- Hot cocoa after dinner

Even though it doesn't feel much like winter around here (sunshiney Phoenix!) my favorite thing is all the family get-togethers and parties that happen around this time of year. It's so nice to spend time with family.
